Oh, our Roxy girl. She has been our baby girl for twelve years. The light of our lives and the best baby. Sadly, that spunky, feisty girl isn’t what she once was, and we have to help her a lot in our daily lives. If she makes it, she’ll be 18 in February. Thankfully, we have run across several things to help her along her journey, and I am excited to share them all with you today, including the best pet products for older dogs.
If you have been around Angie’s Angle for any length of time, you would have seen (and heard) when Roxy was in her prime. She was the best, full of energy and happiness.
As she has aged, more so in the last year and a half, she has started to show signs of not being her best self. Mainly being blind, she runs into things quite often, so us guiding her has become a daily occurrence. We also think she may have a touch of dementia. Otherwise, in all past vet appointments, she has been healthy. So, choosing to let her go has been a hard one. She has a wellness exam, and we’ll find out what is happening now. Deep breaths.
In the meantime, as I mentioned in the opening, we have found many great products geared to older dogs (or even younger ones to keep them peppy!). I have meant to make this post for quite some time, so I am thrilled to get my fingers on the keyboard finally.
Our List for the Best Pet Products for Older Dogs
While this list is geared toward older pups, a few things may help any dog, so keep that in mind as you scroll the list. I hope you find something to help you and your pups on this fabulous life journey together.
- Washable Doggie Diapers – were one of the first things we had to get. They wash so well and fit very well. Having them has been a godsend, especially nowadays.
- Wuffes 23-1 Multi-Vitamin – getting those extra vitamins in never hurts. That is probably why she has stayed relatively healthy even with her ailments. We recently switched to this brand as a direct affiliate and have liked it! (it’s also on sale for the whole month of November 2024)
- Natural Dog Company Pure Fish Oil—We have given Roxy fish oil in her food forever. Brands change, but this is our current one. It is easy to use: Squirt it in their food, and you are good for the day.
- Angry Orange – pee happens; this helps. You don’t know how many products we went through before we landed on this one. It seems to help a bit more than others.
- NutraMax Cosequin—give those old joints some cushion help. We are late on the game at getting this, so start at the first sign of arthritis. Trust me.
- Kradle Calming Chews—We started giving these to her most nights before bed, and it truly seems to help her sleep better, which allows us to sleep better as well.
- Zesty Paws Cognition Chews – these seemed to help for quite a while. Get some wires back into place.
- Innovative Pet Lab—I was a direct affiliate with these guys as well, and we received the compressive at-home test for digestive and allergy health. It was pretty neat, and as with most of her tests, there was nothing going haywire there. You can also get the basic gut check, which could be very informative and helpful.
These products have helped Roxy live the best life she can. Remember to use Amazon subscribe and save for these to save a bit. Remember to check monthly to see if you need the product(s) coming.
I hope one or more products will help your best little fur baby live a bit longer and better with you. Happy tails and full hearts. Until next time.
