Yes, I know it’s already almost the end of February, and I am just now getting this up. I knew this was the first post I wanted to do for the new year (with hopefully lots more to come), but I lacked the energy to restart after what I had not saved one day when I didn’t have Lily. So here we are, finally, starting over. Today, I am bringing you two simple tips (so simple) that will hopefully help you feel so much more organized and put together this year. I know the first tip (that I shared with you all last year) has helped me tremendously, and I swear it’ll do the same for you!
I am just starting simple this year with only two, and hopefully, as I gain my motivation, I can think of others to share more regularly, with lots of stuff in between (fingers crossed!).
Two Simple Tips
Get a Whiteboard
Preferably with heavy magnetics to stick right on the fridge, visible to the household and YOU.
I found a couple of whiteboards that could be useful to you. I think the one I am using Jason brought home from work at some point.
Now, your question is, what do I write on it? Why everything?! I use it to write down what we have for each meal (it is a lifesaver for leftovers). I also write Jason’s soccer game times for the month—easier meal planning and life planning with a single glance. I also write down any other gatherings/parties we may have for the month, along with Jason’s paid Holidays.
The two biggest tips I can give you while doing this are the following.
- Use wet-erase markers instead of just the regular dry ones. I can’t tell you how many times I wiped stuff off with my hand while writing things down in the month. I have both of these sets and use them depending on how small the writing I need—fine tip and bullet tip.
- At the end of each month, take a photo of your calendar. Make a folder on your phone for all your year’s calendar months. I don’t know how often I found this so helpful when looking back and checking something.
Get a Magnetic Meal & Grocery List Planner
It’s been slightly life-changing since my affiliate brand sent me this meal and grocery planner. I have been using it for several months and found many things I like.
- Heavy-duty magnetic. So many times, they have this nice big pad, and the magnetics are not strong enough to keep it up on the fridge. There are no issues with this one. It has stayed put since I put it up, with no budging.
- One side meal planner and one side grocery list.
- There is a nice perforated edge between those two lists, so you can easily take the grocery list to the store.
- There are so many blank lines for all your grocery needs.
- The spiral top of the notepad easily holds a pen with a clip, so you always have the pen handy to write down needed grocery items (or cross off that meal you just had).
My only downfall with this, which is 100% on me and not the product, is that I use the grocery list more than the meal plan. Otherwise, I have been loving this and genuinely believe you need this for your life planning needs.
Bonus Tip
- Grab the Scotch-Brite Dishwand—trust me, go name-brand on this—and fill it with dish soap, water, and vinegar. Use it to give your kitchen sink a good scrub each evening for a clean, feeling sink with ease. Store brush side up.
