The Simple Act of Family Puzzling

Jason and I have always loved jigsaw puzzles. At most points of the year, we often had a puzzle being built in the second living room. We’d each do it alone, so each puzzle would get done twice before moving on in its life cycle. Then, along came Lily, and we knew as she got older and I actually wanted to do puzzles again, that it just couldn’t happen. I finally figured out how we can get to puzzling again. I am thrilled to share how we are family puzzling now!

Jigsaw puzzles bring us joy. Plus, they keep our minds active and thinking, which we need more of, especially in this time and age. I am thrilled we can do puzzles again in this household.

Family Puzzling

The tiny seed was planted in December, around Christmas, when we ran across the cutest Holiday puzzle of Mickey and the gang. We had to grab it—because it also has lights! Apparently, I didn’t take a photo of it and can’t find it online, but it was just perfection. I thought there had to be a way to do puzzles yet keep them out of Lily’s little fingers.

I searched and ran across tables with legs or without, and a board to cover the top when not in use. That was an easy way to keep it out of Lily’s eyes and little fingers when not being used.

I put a few different ones on our puzzle/board game list and waited…

We never got to do our Holiday puzzle this last season because I waited a bit more.

Our Special Puzzle Table

By chance, Amazon showed me a perfect jigsaw puzzle table last month. I showed Jason, and he said, ” Well, if you want it, get it.” I snapped that baby up quickly and ordered a “family puzzle” we saw in Joann the other day.

It was on sale and a bigger size than the previous ones I had on my list.

When the puzzle table arrived at our house, we got it out of the box (because Lily was so excited), and it looked a bit bigger than I had thought. I feared it wouldn’t fit under our futon like I had envisioned. Lucky for me, it fit right under our loveseat in our main living room.

We finally did our unique puzzle (which you’ll see more about in the next section) last night, and it was so fun. Only 400 pieces, we finished it all 3 of us in only a couple of hours. OOops. The puzzle table, though, is perfection. I love it. The legs can be annoying when trying to get them up and down; otherwise, I would be delighted with the purchase. I could see even using it as a game table for evenings on the floor to play a game. So keep that in mind and go on over and order it today. – 1500 Piece Puzzle Table

Family Puzzle – Together Time

A girl after our hearts, Lily loves puzzles, too. She always does them, so she was very excited to do a family puzzle together.

My first encounter with this line of puzzles happened while browsing the closing sale at Joann. Though intrigued, I didn’t grab one, but I immediately found it on Amazon and added it to our list.

I ordered Disney’s Mickey’s Sunday Morning for our first time puzzling together. What a joy! The pieces are well-made. The puzzle includes three different-sized pieces to fit all the fingers and levels in the household. Amazing!

The line by Ceaco is called Together Time – so look for that type to find your perfect family puzzling time.

Because we are genuine puzzlers, we finished the jigsaw puzzle together in just a few hours and look forward to doing it together again. But now, time for a just-me puzzle!
