The Best Electronic Lock for our Vacation Rental
We all know my anxiety runs high, even on the little things. With that being said, one of the things I was worried about when opening up Idaho Deer Haven was having a key instead of an electronic lock. Thankfully, as I was browsing one of my affiliate sites, I ran across an electronic lock that would work perfectly, and I reached out to them for a sample to review. And what do you know, we made it work. I am thrilled to be sharing the best electronic lock, especially for vacation rentals.
The post below contains affiliate links, which help support Angie’s Angle at no extra cost to you.
In the post below, I will detail why I think this is the absolute best electronic lock – not only for a vacation rental but in your own home. It makes life so much easier in many forms. It’s all in the little details, as I like to say.

The Best Electronic Lock – Lockstar
Finding an electronic lock seems daunting – I don’t know why – as they’re no longer new technology. But I guess they are to me since we’ve never owned one: just a regular old lock and key for our house. Now we have branched into an electronic lock for Idaho Deer Haven; maybe next will be our main house. Time will tell. Now, let me in on all the fun details that make Lockstar so great.
5 Ways to Enter
- Fob Card
- Key
- Phone App
- Fingerprint
- Code
What makes this lock so great is that you can use the app and set up codes in no time. Set up when they become active, and when they expire. You can even do a one-time code that only lasts 6 hours. Of course, you can also do permanent codes that will always be on there.
With the app, you do not need to be near the device at all to change codes, lock or unlock the door, and even know when it’s open and closed.
Easy Install
This purchase will make it easy to install on any door. And they include everything you may need to do so. So, there’s no need to search the house for something you need to install it.
- Screwdriver
- Drill Piece
- Smart Door Lock
- Wifi/Gateway Bridge
There is a sensor that attaches to the bottom of the lock and then to the door jam. This allows you to know when the door is open and closed. If the sensor falls away, this doesn’t affect the critical functions of the best electronic lock.
Side note – our sensor disappeared after this last guest, but every other function worked, thankfully. I reached out to Lockstar, and they are sending our host a replacement. I don’t think we drilled it in the door jam as we should have, so we shall do that this time around.
Other Notable Tidbits
- You can choose in settings to have the door automatically lock anytime it’s shut or lock it on your own.
- Passage mode – where you can set the time the lock will remain unlocked unless you manually lock it.
- Tamper alert – you can get a notification if someone is trying to unlock the lock and not succeeding.
- Remote lock or unlock.
- Affordable Price!
We are loving our Lockstar, which we think makes it the best electronic lock you can get nowadays, especially at the pricing they offer. Their customer service is pretty grand as well, which only adds to wanting to use the company.
Try out Lockstar today and see why we can only praise it.
The only slight con that I have found is that you need to press the keypad first to activate it to start typing in your code, which means the first attempt doesn’t always work.
