As I have stated before, while I LOVE reading and love writing the whole concept of writing up a book review just isn’t my strong point, but I want to get better so the only way I know to get better at something is to keep trying.
This is my third book from NetGalley and so far I think this has been my favorite book. I have read Jennifer Probst before, which helped me know that I was probably going to really like this book.
Searching for Somebody by Jennifer Probst is a romance, full on chick-lit and that makes me happy. It’s a fast read and one that in some ways keeps you guessing on what might actually happen.
Expert from Net Galley’s description of the book:
In charming Verily, New York, Kate Seymour has a smashing success with Kinnections, the matchmaking service she owns with her two best girlfriends. But Kate’s more than a savvy businesswoman: She’s gifted with a secret power, a jolting touch that signals when love’s magic is at work. It rocked her when she picked up a strange volume of love spells in the town’s used bookstore . . . and it zapped her again when she encountered Slade Montgomery, the hot-tempered—and hot-bodied— divorce lawyer who storms into Kinnections demanding proof that playing Cupid won’t destroy his vulnerable sister, Kate’s newest client. The only way to convince this cynic that she’s no fraud, and that love is no mirage, is for Kate to meet his audacious challenge: find him his dream woman. Can Kate keep their relationship strictly business when her electrifying attraction nearly knocked her off her feet? Or has the matchmaker finally met her match?
You feel for Kate at the beginning of the book as she is on a date and isn’t “feeling” it with her current date. She is tired of not feeling that spark that means that this is the one for you. She wonders, will I ever get it? Or I am destined to be alone forever?
Then we meet Slade, a loving but over protective bother who only wants to protect his sisters well being after almost losing her a few years back. To do that he feels he must go into Cupid to investigate and see if its legit or one of those scams.
Slade and Kate meet up for the initial meeting to get him into Cupid to find his match. Slade swears Cupid is just a scam waiting to happen and as a lawyer can sniff those out a million miles away.
Will Kate keep fighting off what she knows is right or will she surrender and let it in?
An excellent read and one I totally recommend if you like chick-lit.
