Learn About and Win A Suitcase Full Children’s Book

Ugh, life sometimes, I tell ya. This lovely book was set to go up in early September. Yet, my brain just couldn’t get going on writing it. So we moved it to September 16th. And yet I am here, sick, still not thinking correctly. It seems fitting that I am sharing with you all about and win A Suitcase Full because life doesn’t go as we plan, but we still carry it and move forward. Not forgetting or leaving things behind; just making more room in the suitcase we carry.

Falling Into Leaves, 2026

About and Win A Suitcase Full by Maryam Kia

Life doesn’t always let you stay in one place. No matter how much you may want to stay in one place, sometimes you have to move where the opportunity rises. We made big moves ourselves in 2007 – – and now we have been able to plant our roots and stay put thus far in our life. I don’t do well with change. But this book helped me see that even if you have to keep moving, it doesn’t mean you forget where you were or the memories and people you brought with you.

About and Win A Suitcase Full - Main

All About the Book: A Suitcase Full

A Suitcase Full is written by Maryam Kia and illustrated by Jaclyn Sinquett. A book that is beautifully written and beautifully illustrated. It truly warmed my heart, and sometimes I just browse through the book to look at the pictures without reading. Lily loved it too. I don’t know that she fully grasped the meaning behind the book yet, and that is okay too.

A Suitcase Full-4

a heartfelt picture book about the love of family, the power of one’s story, and the beauty of embracing change while leaving and finding home. When a young girl’s family is forced to flee Iran, there isn’t time to make a plan. With only one suitcase, Kimia is forced to leave behind many cherished possessions as well as say goodbye to her beloved grandmother, Nana-joon. As years pass, the family lives in vibrant cities like London and Paris, but are never able to stay for long. After traveling halfway around the world, they finally find a new place to call home on the island of O’ahu. When Kimia’s new teacher assigns the class a special project—bringing a suitcase filled with meaningful objects—Kimia finds a way to weave her past into her present, celebrating both her roots and her growth.

Through stunning illustrations and poignant storytelling, A Suitcase Full invites readers to explore their own life stories and identities, to embrace changes as opportunities to learn and grow, and to appreciate travel and cultures around world.

A Suitcase Full-5

I believe this would be the perfect book for someone younger who is having to move and having a hard time with it. While that is the perfect person to gift it to, it by no means is the only person who would enjoy it. I think everyone will find a special place in their heart for A Suitcase Full – no matter your season or age.
