As I stated last week, I am looking to boost my metabolism, lose a bit of weight, and hopefully get deeper sleep. While Jason is hoping to get a better blood sugar reading while also slimming down a bit. This is the second of four weeks of blog posts as we try Always Eat After 7 PM: The Revolutionary Rule-Breaking Diet That Lets You Enjoy Huge Dinners, Desserts, and Indulgent Snacks—While Burning Fat Overnight by Joel Marion. It’s time to check how we are doing by eating after seven.
This is How We Are Doing By Eating After Seven
While I am still finding my balance and see how this plan will do me. We are actually doing an extra week of the 14-day phase in, as I felt the first week was more of a learning curve for us. While I haven’t really lost weight, I do feel better in the mornings. But get super hungry mid afternoon. Otherwise, I am good.
Jason though is very hungry most of the time. He still has to eat his morning “snack” because of his medication & diabetes. Happily his blood sugar has dipped quite a bit from this, so we are hoping to see more improvement in that along with his hunger pains lessening some.
There are actually three phases to this Always Eat After 7 PM way of eating. The first phase is the one we are still in called the 14 day Acceleration Phase. Where you fast for breakfast – having a 3-minute fat burning ritual drink (I am sticking with my coffee) or breakfast smart snack (which Jason will need to stay with). With a balance of food for lunch/dinner/dessert and bedtime snack. Yes you eat a lot in the evening, that is the plan on this.
While I can still have my coffee, thank goodness. You do need to switch out creamer or sugar you are using with Swerve (or any others that don’t affect insulin) – because you are looking to fast and those right away would break that fast.
Personally, I am not always hungry for the bedtime snack but I think it’s an important part of the ritual. I have skipped dessert though. It’s so nice to know you can have them all though.
The next phase is the main phase and ending with the lifestyle phase. We’ll talk about those matter in the upcoming weeks as I get to them.
A little Q&A With the Author of the Book
A couple questions and answers with Joel himself.
What inspired you to write the book?
After authoring 6 best selling books it was glaringly obvious there were 2 huge misconceptions about dieting that needed to be exposed. The first is that you can’t eat late at night or before bed, which science now shows is NOT true. And second, you can’t eat large portions that satisfy your natural instinct. This book solves both these problems by providing an evidence-based, enjoyable approach to dieting that can be used by any person to quickly achieve their weight loss goals.
How difficult is the Always Eat After 7 PM plan to follow?
It’s not. And that’s exactly why I wrote the book. While any diet is never truly easy, it can be more enjoyable and much easier to adhere to when you understand how Always Eat After 7pm works because it caters to our bodies natural instincts.
Based on surprising science, Always Eat After 7 PM debunks popular diet myths and offers an easy-to-follow diet that accelerates fat-burning and allows you to indulge in your most intense food cravings: Eating the majority of your calories at night. I am all about being easy. What about you?
The most challenging times to curb hunger are just before bed and in the morning. By following the Always Eat After 7PM program, you have the most willpower to stay on the diet because you are eating during the hours when you are most hungry. This also puts you into both intermittent fasting increasing testosterone and your metabolism, while putting you into ketosis.
The nice thing about this plan is that it is easy…
“In general, healthy fats can also help increase feelings of fullness and satisfaction because they regulate appetite through a number of mechanisms, including the release of appetite hormones. What’s more, combining fat with fiber has been shown to further increase the satiating potential of fat. The satiating power of fats is often one explanation offered to describe why some weight loss trials have shown that low-carbohydrate (and higher-fat) diets tend to lead to greater weight loss than low-fat diets.”
