Last year I started taking you around our house and showing you all now before we start doing things. Granted, we have lived here for 6 years now and yet haven’t done anything major. We are hoping that this year will be different though and we can get to doing things around here.
In case you are able to start doing things around here, I want to finish up the house tour of each room before. That way when I show you all the after I have something easy to go back on to reference. Today I am showcasing the room I am most embarrassed to show you all – the main bathroom.
The main bathroom needs a complete gut. It’s going to be kind of spendy and we won’t be able to use it while it’s getting done. Which is bad since upstairs we only have a bathtub and no shower. Because of time and money, it has been put off but it seriously needs to be done. It and that foundation/front porch are the main things that need to be done as soon as possible.
Embarrassed to Show You The Main Bathroom
Decided that on this house tour, I’d be taking you around as if you were in the house with me and it would be the next logical place to show. The last update was the dining room, so if you turn to your right you’d be facing the main bathroom. After a few small steps to your right anyway.
When we first moved in the bathroom counter was this pink or peach color that just had to go. It’s the one thing in the house I painted myself. We were thinking short-term before we’d redo it, so we used regular paint to just it covered and decent looking.
The counter itself is a home-built one, which is fine, but it’s coming away from the back wall badly now too.
If you turn to your left, you’ll see the wall we have our towels hung on.
After that, you turn towards the shower. The shower that the stall is coming apart and I can not for the life of me get the shower floor get any cleaner no matter what I do. The most embarrassing part of the bathroom and in the worst shape.
A new shower stall will be installed. We want to get a glass door too instead of the curtain.
The area that the toilet is in is small and cramped but it is what it is. There isn’t a whole lot that can be changed there, though we’ll likely be shorting the counter to give a little bit more space that way.
Flooring will be replaced with something but as of yet undecided. Which will be good because see the cream carpet over to your right? That is covering a very tore up floor and I can’t even really move the carpet to clean under it. Gross.
Future Main Bathroom Wish List
And as for the door to the bathroom, we are hoping to put in a pocket door to save space in the bathroom.
Also, a big thing is finally getting a fan in here.
As you can tell the main bathroom needs major help and hopefully will be getting it soonish. It will be exciting to share the space once things start happening and it starts to transform.
How is your main bathroom? It is the bathroom of your dreams or could it use some help? I’d love to hear your bathroom woes or greatness.
